Cookie Scottorn Ceramics
I am currently making figurative ceramic sculpture, often using plants as part of the design. These range from sculptures designed to work in the natural environment to small vases and figures for inside. I am inspired by poetry, painting and myths and legends from around the world.
I work in a variety of clays, crank, porcelain, white stoneware and occasionally terracotta - thrown, coiled and hand-built, much of the decoration is pressed or sprigged using shells, fossils and found objects. I trained in Ceramics at the West Surrey College of Art and Design and ran a pottery making decorated tableware for many years in Oxfordshire moving to North Cornwall in December 2015.
