Endgrain
On show in 'The Design Lounge', Ravi Bains moved to Cornwall to study Fine Art in 1998 and has since continued to develop his practice as a designer-maker from his workshop in Falmouth, Endgrain. The work demonstrates an interest in the intersection of materials, evoking how they might speak with one another when brought together to become a surface.

The application of the surface can range from pure decoration, a panel that hangs on a wall or a pattern set into a door frame, to something more functional, such as tables and lamps. In making the work he aims to create something that seems to be greater than the sum of its parts, intriguing to gaze at and unique in its visual flavour. He uses a combination of handmade and CNC machining processes and draws from a wide variety of materials.
"I intend to continue this exploration of pattern, colour, texture, decoration and functionality and will hone my practice accordingly."
