Jo Davies
Jo Davies is a mixed media textile artist and painter. She lives and works by the sea in Penzance.
Jo works spontaneously and energetically, usually with several pieces on the go at any one time, trying to capture all the nuances and possibilities as the pieces take on a life of their own.
Her work is often minimal and in a limited palette.
Impermanence, fragility and loss are significant themes which surface frequently.
Contemplation and reflection are important in her practice. She tries to hold close the Japanese concept of Wabi sabi, the beauty of imperfection.
Jo’s work can be seen in: St Ives Society of Artists, Penwith Gallery Associate Shows, Makers Emporium in St Just, Riverbank Gallery in Newlyn, and the Cornwall Crafts Association.
