Lowarth
Work jackets inspired by heritage gardens, handmade in Cornwall. These hardwearing garments have been specifically designed for gardening, art and crafts. I initially designed the jacket for my husband who works at The Lost Gardens of Heligan to wear when gardening, as a light weight cover up from the sun. I ensured the Jacket was roomy enough to work in when stretching, and that the sleeves didn’t hinder him when weeding, he also wanted deep pockets to keep tools to hand. Following several commissions from him wearing it at work, I realised there was a market here in Cornwall for these practical and stylish workwear items. They can be bought off the peg from a limited run, or commissioned to the customer’s specific size and design. Each garment has been hand made by myself, in a small studio near Porthtowan, to the highest quality. Each Jacket is sewn using French seams as opposed to the cheap, fast, over locking seen in mass produced garments, this ensures the utmost quality, luxury and durability. These textile garments are not fashion items, they are designed as workwear, this being said, style has not been compromised and neat design elements including the swing shape, shorter sleeve length and large, deep ‘A frame’ pockets ensure not just an extremely comfortable garment, but also a well styled piece.
