Chilliglass by Penny Carter
Penny currently makes lampworked glass beads, working each bead individually in a flame. Being interested in the layering of colours creating edible ( or not ! ) fruit like seeds - chilli pepper and pomegranate, kiwi and prickly pear, spikey gooseberry or peppery damson.
Penny graduated as a glass blower and has gradually begun working in a smaller scale to work more intricately with colour. Enjoying superposing the light of juicy transparent glass, and the deep pithy intensity of opaque colours.

Glass Reeds - Lampworked beads, stainless steel rod - purbeck stone base

Cactus Collumn - Blown glass beads, stainless steel rod and Purbeck stone base
For these pieces she has gone back into the hot shop, lampworking directly onto blown beads. Taking the colour language learnt on a smaller scale and exploring the environment and how it reacts to her work.
