Philip Booth
Philip lives and works in Cornwall and taught at Falmouth School of Art from 1980 – 2002 when he took up the post of Professor of Design at Nagoya University of Arts in Japan. Philip exhibited widely in Japan with regular solo shows as well as contributing to major national open exhibitions such as the Toyota Triennale.

The vast majority of my work is studio based work for exhibition. The larger part of my output is mainly in the form of wall mounted constructions in mixed media, box works, art medals and works on paper. Much of the work is driven by reactions to encounters with the landscape and nature. However, the meaning of the work lies in its presence, not illusion, expressing a sense of the physical world in a vibrant abstract language without replicating reality, creating a kind of personal geology that alludes to and celebrates the dynamics of nature rather than merely depicting it.
I also undertake commissions in landscape design, public art and site specific works. Recent major exhibitions have been held at the Trefry Gallery, Truro Museum, Dean Clough Galleries, Halifax and Uillinn Arts Centre, Skibbereen, Co Cork, Ireland.
